TIGER BREAKS LOOSE.
Excitement in Cross-Channel Aeroplane. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received December 18, 1 p.m.) DEELV, December 17. Unknown to the pilot and the mechanic, an exciting scene was enacted over the English Channel in the cabin of an aeroplane which was flying from Ostend to Croydon. The passengers included a tiger and its trainer, who were coming to appear at a performance in London. The tiger, which was making its first flight, was most unhappy and growled ferociously. The trainer entered its cage to keep the animal company. The tiger shot out as soon as the door was opened but did not attack anyone. It just wrestled with the trainer, who, with much presence of mind, dashed back into the cage with the tiger clinging to him and managed to get away from the animal. The aeroplane had to descend at Penshurst owing to fog.
