The president of the Mount Pleasant Burgesses’ Association (Mr H. Edgar) referred to the invaluable work carried out by Mr Williams during his term of office. Mr Edgar called on Mr Williams to lay the stone, and for this purpose handed him a silver trowel, presented by an anonymous lady ratepayer. The stone is inscribed: " This stone was laid by Councillor A. G. Williams, 1931.” It was provided and inscribed by Mr W. R. Webb.
