ATTACKS WOMAN.

Man then Commits Suicide in House. TRAGEDY AT THAMES. Per Press Association. THAMES, August 25. About 8.30 last evening Daniel Sylvester Moloney, a carrier, of Hikutaia, visited the home of Miss Ivy Charlotte Robinson, in Beach Road, Thames. It is not yet known what occurred, but it is believed that Maloney slashed Miss Robinson’s throat and then cut his own throat in the kitchen of the house. He was dead when found. Further details show that Moloney, whose wife and two children live at Paeroa, had been very friendly with Miss Robinson, but her mother desired that the friendship be broken. Moloney went to the girl’s house last evening and, according to the sister’s story, attempted to renew the relations. The sister went out of the kitchen where the two were talking. She later heard her sister scream. Ivy rushed out of the room and collapsed on the footpath, having been slashed on the throat with a razor. Mrs Robinson, ill in bed, also heard the scream. She got up and went to the kitchen. Before her eyes Moloney cut his throat, collapsing on a sofa and expiring in a few minutes. The police were called by a younger sister. Ivy’s injuries were attended to by a doctor and she was albe to return to her home. Moloney was well known in the district. He was of a very fine physique. He was separated from his wife while paying attention to Ivy, but her mother ordered her to cease the friendship.
