The Mayor’s Coal and Blanket Fund is in receipt of £l3 3s 8d from the Christchurch Gas Company, and £29 9s 3d from the Municipal Electricity Department. The donations represent the proceeds from the sale of cakes made at the cookery demonstrations at the Winter Show. The Mayor (Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.) stated that he was very grateful for these amounts, as the fund was in difficulties. If other citizens could see their way to help in the same cause they would be providing much-needed coal and blankets to deserving cases.
