FAT STOCK PRICES.
Over-Supply of Beef and Mutton. Beef and mutton prices eased at the metropolitan market at Addington terday, when both sections were oversupplied. Fat hoggets were cheaper, but this was mainl}' bcause the butchers are not interested in this type of sheep at this stage of the season. Almost half the fat cattle entry was made up of North Island beasts, and the quality was good. The proportion of steer beef was heavier than it has been lately. In spite of the lapse cf a fortnight since the previous sale, the entry was larger than was required, and values declined by 25s to 30s" a head. The fat sheep were a very good lot, and vi ere very much more numerous than they were for the double market The supply was too large, and from the outset of the sale it was apparent that there would be an easing in values. Wethers declined by 2s a head and ewes by Is. Lighter ewes did not share the decline. The yarding of hoggets met a dragging sale, and sold at values about 2s a head lower than those ruling at the previous sale. Nine spring lambs were entered and sold well. \ eal was in small supply, and sold at late rates. There was an improved demand for fat pigs, and baconers showed an advance in price.
