At Newport, in the quarter-finals of the invitation tourney, F. J. Perry (England) defeated G. Lott (USA) 6-1, 6-4, 6-2. Vines defeated Shields (U.S.A 1 3-6. 6-1, 6-3, 6-0. Van Ryn (U.S.A.) defeated Bryant Grant (Atlanta, Georgia) 8-10 0-6’ 6-1. 6-3, 6-2. At Forest Hills, in the third round or the women's National Championship, Miss Helen Jacobs (England) defeated hHss^ Virginia Hilleary (Philadelphia) Mrs Harper (US A.) defeated Mrs Pitman (England) 6-0, 5-7, 6-1 Mrs Helen Wills-Moody (USA.) defeated Miss Joan Ridley (England) 6-3, 6-0. Miss Dorothy Weisel (Sacramento, California) defeated Miss Round (England) 6-4, 6-3. Mrs Whittingstall (England) defeated Miss Alice France (Oregon, New Jersey) 6-1, 6-3. Rain, wind and storm forced a postponement of the matches. Mrs Jessup and Mrs Shepherd Barron (England) tied with one set each.
