“ The Royal Bed,” which commenced at the Theatre Royal to-day, promises to provide a splendid evening s entertainment and it is described as one of the smartest and brightest comedies of the year. Its comedy is of the witty type, the humour being in its dialogue, and this is aided by the manner in which Lowell Sherman handles his role. Lowell Sherman is a star who now has a big following, and it is said that in this picture he surpasses any of his previous performances. Smart and well groomed, he is the ideal character to interpret the King in Robt. E. Sherwood’s famous stage play which ran for over two years on Broadway under the name of “ The Queen’s Husband.” Mary Astor is another favourite who appears in the picture, and there is also a strong supporting cast. The smart type of comedy has proved tremendously popular in this country and “The Royal Bed” is not likely to be an exception to the rule. A strong supporting programme will also be seen, amongst which is the fourth chapter of‘the exciting and thrilling serial, ” Heroes of the Flames.” This week’s episode is entitled “ Death’s Chariot.” There is also a newsreel of world events, a comedy, and one of the excellent Sportlight series. entitled
