Letters in Brief.
“Old Mac” writes:—l saw a motor-car strike a middle-aged woman, but fortunately for her it had bumper bars which hit her below the knees and capsized her on to the car. There she sat in a natural position as if in a chair, her back resting on the car, her legs on the bumper bar and her feet a few inches off the ground. When the car pulled up a man nearby’ took her hands and pulled her to her feet. I do not think that she was hurt but she must have received a shock. The lesson from this is that a car with bumper bars gives a person a chance, but one without only leads to injury or sudden death. This accident was due no doubt to the fact that the Communist procession took place on a busy day and in a crowded locality.
