WHAT’S A HUSBAND FOR?

(Special to the "Star.”) AUCKLAND, August 14. Mrs Elizabeth Silverworth was convicted and discharged for assaulting a tram conductor by smacking him on the nose when he asked for fares for children over three years of age. Wben she appeared in Court she addressed the Magistrate (Mr F. K. Hunt) as “ Your Highness.” Mr Hunt remarked that a woman shouldn’t go about hitting tram conductors. “ She has a husband. Let her hit him,” he remarked.
