Cruelty to Animals.
To thte Editor.
Dear Sir, —In reply to “ Lover of All Animals,” may I suggest a wider and w’ider public interest in the work the S.P.CA. is doing? Only preventive education will finally eradicate the cruelty that still does exist at a certain stage in some children’s development.
The Junior League of the S P.C.A. now has over 1300 financial members, and is editing its own journal for the children, in the hopes that by constructive education, all cruelty will finally be wiped out. There is not nearly the amount of thoughtless cruelty towards animals by children these days, chiefly because they have so many other interests, and the little watchful eyes of the Junior Leaguers are a distinct ally.
Let me assure your readers, as one In touch with the position, that these caaes are extremely rare and are due only to lack of sufficient education on the part of the adult section of the community.—l am. etc, B W.
