Cheap Railway Excursions on Wednesdays.

Remarkable success has attended the innovation by the Railway DejDartment of cheap excursions on Wednesdays from the country stations to the city. “ Country people are taking advantage of these excursions to an extent that exceeds otrr expectations, and the passenger traffic on Wednesdays has been more than trebled,” a railway official said to-day. He remarked that country people were finding it cheaper to come to Christchurch by train on Wednesdays than to use their motorcars, and moreover, the carriages were steam-heated and provided with chair seats, thus ensuring comfortable travel The experience so far had proved that the innovation was thoroughly justified.
