CRICKET.

Sub-Association Delegates* Conference. A meeting of delegates of the subassociations affiliated to the Canterbury Cricket Association was held last evening, Mr W. Simpson (chairman of the Canterbury Association) presiding. Those present were:—Messrs W. Sommerville and J. Green (Malvern), J. Coe (Ellesmere), T. S. Hanna and H. Bennett (North Canterbury), H. Rogers and W. C. Aitken (City and Suburban), W. J. V. Hamilton, W. L. King, C. Ayling, E. H. Robertson, R. C. Burns and E. E. Luttrell (Canterbury). Mr Simpson welcomed the delegates and said cricketers were looking forward to having a good season. He expressed the opinion that with five Canterbury men in the New Zealand team the game should progress. The same conditions which governed the sub-association shield matches last season were adopted for the coming season’s competitions. It was decided to play the Town v. Country match on December 2, the country team to be selected on the same lines as last year. A Canterbury colts' team will play Ellesmere at Doyleston on Labour Day. The draw for the first round of matches is as follows: Malvern v. North Canterbury, Ellesmere v. City and Suburban, Amur! a bye. The winner of the Ellesmere and City and Suburban match to play Amur! in the second round. Matches have to be started before November 25.
