DANCE AT RANGIORA.

Happiness reigned at the Northern A. and P. Association’s Hall, Rangiora, last evening on the occasion of an enjoyable dance given by the Ladies Physical Culture Club. There was a large attendance of young people, and to excellent music by the Rangiora Dance Orchestra the dancing continued until after midnight. Advantage was taken of the occasion to present a number of life honorary members’ badges to those who had been prominent in service to further the welfare of the club. The presentations were ( made on behalf of the executive by Mr L. Smith. The recipients were:— Mr Walter Johnson, patron and referee for four years: Mr C. I. Jennings, president since the formation of the club in 1922; Mr L. Smith, jun., physical culture instructor for four years; Mrs T. M’lntosh, patroness for six years j and who, besides travelling as chaper- j one of the senior hockey team, was i manageress in 'the past two seasons; J Airs L. Harper, patroness during the j past three years and chaperone and | manageress of the junior team; Mrs F. I Burgess (nee Miss Ivy Bevington), first J secretary of the club and served in : that office for four years; Mrs F. Cox j (nee Miss Freda Schulter), and Misses Aileen Bruere and Joan Parsons, three J who rendered service on the executive, j and have been amongst the most pro- | minent and successful players in the ; senior team (they were also Canter- j

bury representative players in 1929). j In brief speeches that followed the i presentations, hearty congratulations were offered the senior hockey team on winning the association’s champion cup for the fifth time.
