REMARKABLE SUCCESS ATTENDS WINTER SHOW.

No “first night’* ever staged has been voted a bigger success than Saturday’s opening of the Winter Show and Exhibition in the K ! ng Edward Barracks. The large crowd that filled the gaily decorated hall gave every evidence of surprised pleasure at tho naturo and the number of the displays which were notably more attractive than on any previous occasion. First in favour were the working exhibits, round which visitors congregated to learn for themselves what were the processes in the making of numerous articles they wear, eat and use every day in their own homes. All were greatly impressed with the expert workmanship, the quality, arid the. value of tho goods, and expressed themselves satisfied that, apart from providing workers with employment, there remained no doubt in their minds that there is definite personal economy in constantly preferring to purchase the products of their own people. The Exhibition from this point of view is an Experience no one will wish to miss —pride can be added to the pleasure of economy by supporting home industries. The musical programme was greatly appreciated by all, and “The Wool Fairies ** was an ideal entertainment thoroughly enjoyed by the children and from which the parents found much food for thought rsspecting the uses of wool and still more wool—the Dominion's greatest source of wealth.
