DANCES AT WEEK-END PROVE POPULAR.
FORESTERS’ EVENING HELD AT LYTTELTON
Members of the Court Queen of the Isles (Foresters’ Lodge) held their annual dance in the Excelsior Hall, Lyttelton on Saturday evening, when both members and visitors spent an enjoyable time. The music was provided by the Herdman-Fisk orchestra and Mr L. Iluston played an extra. Those present included : —Mesdames E. Illingworth. G. Osborne (Christchurch), J. A. Garner, S. Stevenson, A. An enjoyable dance was held by the New Brighton Free Kindergarten in the Masonic Hall, New Brighton, on Saturday evening. The arrangements were carried out by a committee consisting of Mesdames J. Bellamy, W. T. Glasgow, J. H. Coddington, S. F. Napper, 11. Burtt, L. Beardsley. J. M’Lachland and Cant. Mr H. Arden was M.C. and the music for the dancing was supplied by Carson’s Band. M'Gillivray, Buckley, Mapstone, Smith and others. Fire Brigade. The members of the Kaiapoi Fire Brigade held their annual ball in the Orange Hall on Thursday evening. There was a large attendance, representatives being present from the Christchurch City, Lyttelton, Sumner, Brighton, Southbrook and Rangiora Brigades. Excellent arrangements were made by the committee for the enjoyment of those attending. The hall was decorated with red and black streamers and balloons, subdued coloured lights making the decorative scheme very effective. The music was provided bv Ogilvie’s Dance Orchestra, and supper extras ■were played by Mr Karaitiana. Messrs W. Tait and W. M’Partlin were M.C.’s. A lucky spot dance was won by Miss E.
