W.C.T.U. MEETING.
The North Canterbury District Executive of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union met in the W.C.T.U. rooms. Mrs Richards presided and representatives attended from fourteen adult unions. Before the commencement of business Miss Henderson proposed a vote of sympathy with the relatives of the late Miss Anna Gordon, world’s president of the W.C.T.U., who recently died at Evanston, U.S.A. The motion was carried, members standing Miss Blackwell was welcomed by the president. It was decided to take the space offered at the Winter Show and erect a stall for displays and free distribution of literature. Each union promised to assist. Members were reminded of the Provincial Convention at Temuka in September. Mrs Hector Rolleston, who has been visiting Mrs Rolleston, sen., Fendalton, has returned to Wellington.
