BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED BY FIRM’S EMPLOYEES.
On Monday evening the staff of the Calder Mackay Co. met at Dixieland to celebrate the third birthday of the firm. It was an enjoyable gathering. In responding to the "toast to “The Firm,” Mr Mackay said that one of the foundations of a successful business was the loyalty and co-operation of its staff. A business could not measure its success by its profits on the balancesheet but by the service it gave to the people of the community. In entering their fourth year of business he was confident that another progressive page of the company’s history would be written. Other speakers included Messrs Fernie and Dillon of the company’s Dunedin branch. After dinner the members of the staff were the guests of Mr Mackay at a performance at the Plaza Theatre.
