TIMARU SOCIAL NOTES

Aliss Ethel Ford (“The Crossing,” Woodbury) is the guest of Airs P. A. Elworthy (Gordon’s Valley). Aliss Peggy Unwin (Church Street), who has been the guest of her brother, Mr B. Unwin (“Silver Hill,” Albury), has returned home. Aliss Helen Fenwick (Dunedin) passed through Timaru on Saturday on her way south, after staying with Mrs T. F. Gibson (Christchurch). Aliss Irene Chamber (Hastings), who has been visiting Dunedin, has arrived to stay with Airs Edgar Jones (“Otiritiri”)). Aliss Sheila Howell (Cave) returned home on Saturday after spending a few days with Airs R. H. Hill (Miremire Street). Air and Mrs Maurice O’Rorke (Lake Coleridge), who were the guests of Airs V. F. Boyle (Wai-iti Road), have returned home. Aliss Hope Pinckney (“Glenaray”), who has been staying with Mrs J. Mowbray Tripp (“Silverton,” Woodbury), left on Saturday to be the guest of Miss Tripp (Orari Gorge). Aliss Rosa Tripp was hostess at her home in Wai-iti Road, at a tea party given in honour of Aliss Nancy Orbell (“The Croft”) whose marriage will take place next month. The house was arranged with spring flowers and small bowls of primroses. Aliss Tripp received her guests wearing a beautifullycut Empire frock of soft brown wool tweed. The guests included:—Airs V. F. Boyle, Mrs Alaurice O’Rorke (Hororata),) Airs K. de Castro, Airs G. H. R. Ulrich and Airs H. Sinclair-Thomson; Alisses June Orbell, Elena Helmore, Alary and Rosamond Rolleston, Betty and Nan Cossins, Catherine Johnstone, Janet Studholme, Joan Hargreaves, Diana Orbell, Betty Harper, Sylvia Orbell, Jessie Mackenzie, Joyce Edgar Jones, Janet Paterson, Denderah Rhodes, Elizabeth Elworthy, Nancy Bond, Margery Gibson.
