GAILY DESIGNED GLOVES FOR EVERY OCCASION.
FASHIONS THIS SEASON ARE DISTINCTLY FEMININE Fashions in gloves are distinctly feminine this season and those for formal wear show a variety of design such as we have not seen for some years. Many of those for day use are cut with elbow or semi-elbow sleeves in order to suit the new length in dress sleeves. Beaded Tassels on Silver Thread. Lovely examples expressing the new styles can now be seen at a Piccadilly Circus store. A pair in white kid, almost elbow length, have a simple design in narrow silver thread braid stitched on the back, says a fashion correspondent. This braid is also used to lace the seams at the wrists. Six cloudy red glass beads threaded on each end of the laces make fascinating tassels. The gauntlets of another white pair are cut into deep V’s back and front. Godets are inlet in the sides in such a way that they too form V's, thus achieving a vandyked hemline. The seams are outlined with vandyked strips of black kid, barely an of an inch in width. This black trimming is also introduced on the backs of the gloves. Another white pair, elbow length, have black godets introduced about four inches from the end. Five rows of tiny eyelets are punched in sunray; fashion along the godets, revealing the white lining, so that they look like rows of white pin-spots. Some black elbow-length gloves lined with white kid have a conventional floral design in broderie anglaise worked on the black kid only.. Others in this fashionable length widen almost like gauntlets and have several inchdeep godets in self-colour introduced at the hem, so that they give a charming frill effect to the gloves. These can be bought in red, green, blue and man/ other colours. Puffed Sleeves for Evening Wear. Among the very long ones destined for evening use are some with 44 puffed sleeves.” These are made with a threeinch wide strip of kid gathered into twq narrow bands pn the ends of the gloves, so that the puffs come a few inches j above the elbows. Pearl buttons in 4 matching shade fasten the wrists. _ j Some long black kid gloves are finished with a very slightly gathered frill about five inches wide, trimmed at inch-wide intervals with white pipings. These are obtainable in a variety of good colour schemes. Others are punched all over in an 1 eyelet-embroidery pattern, and «om« green with black borders are decorated with tiny gold sequins. Bands of “ Drawn Threadwork.” Perhaps the smartest of all are those finished with a deep band of simulated coarse drawn threadwork. This effect is achieved by rows of short, vertical slits, each tinv square of material then being gathered tightly together in the centre with silk thread in the same colour. These are made in many different shades lined with white.
