SYDNEY COUNCIL IN A QUANDARY.

LORD MAYOR’S PLAN THWARTED BY ALDERMEN. (United Press Assn.— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received April 1, 10.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 1. \ The noisiest meeting since the City Council took over from the Civic Commissioners was ended by Aiderman M’Elhone walking out with the Labour aldermen, leaving the Council without a quorum. Thus for the second time the Council has been prevented from dealing with the Lord Mayor’s minute to abolish the internal audit departments and to re-organise both under the Town Clerk’s supervision. The Lord Mayor said that the position was so serious that he would take legal advice to meet it.
