Social Evening. A pleasant evening was recently spent at the residence of Mr and Mrs J liaigh, Worcester Street, by the past and present members of YV. H. Simms and Sons. Ltd. The guest of honour was Mr R. C. Ray, to whom a presentation was made by the manager, Mr O. M. Jones, on account of his approaching marriage. Among those present were: Mrs liaigh, Mrs Dyer, Mr and Mrs O. M. Jones, Mr and Mrs Watts; Misses Edna Jarden, Wynn Costello, Dorothy Franklin, Hazel Haigh, Ethel Lomas, Ruth Fulton, Gwen Wansborough, Doris Wansborough, Mona Gillespie, Agnes Douglas, Edith Culbie Rona Smith, Nancy St John; Messrs Ray, Fairburn, Sutherland, Lee. M’William, Robertson, Ilugheson, N. Smith, Suckling and liaigh. Afternoon. Mrs F " Barlow served afternoon tea on Tuesday to the women friends and supporters of the nominees of the Sumner Burgesses Association for the May elections of Mayor and Councillors. The occasion was for the purpose of forming committees of women workers, and after making a strong point in her address of the necessity for the help of women in this matter, Mrs Barlow formed several committees of willing and enthusiastic workers to further the cause of the nominees.
