LATE SPORTING.

ADDINGTON NOTES. A QUIET MORNING. The race track was open for work at Addington this morning and was in capital order. All the work was done in the centre of the track, the inside part not being available. Although nothing of a sensational character was accomplished, there were a few useful workouts. Ratloc started about three lengths in front of Kelp, who was two lengths in front of Vendome, the trio working a mile and a half. There w r as no change in positions for a mile and a quarter, when Vendome and Kelp drew up to Ratloc and the three put on their best speed, finishing in line. Delightful, who looks at his best, covered nearly a mile and a half but was not sent at top speed. He was well out in the centre of the track and seemed anxious to go faster. Kreisler, who has been racing very well of late, covered about two miles on the outside of the track. He went the first mile at a slow speed and was sent along much faster over the final half mile. The pacer looks in fine order. Golden Bubbles, Hostess and Macaranda worked a mile and a quarter. Golden Bubbles led the other pair by about a couple of lengths, till the straight was reached, when Hostess raced up and beat her by about two lengths. Macaranda finished just behind Golden Bubbles. Mount Royal was worked by himself over nearly two miles but he did not trot in his best style and looked as though he would go to a break at any moment. Erin’s Lynn went two miles at a serviceable speed, but she did not pace evenly, and made a mistake in the back stretch in the last round. The North Island trotter Native Star was on the track, and was indulged in a few sprints. She looks in fine order, and trotted with plenty of freedom. Maurice Dillon went a mile and a half, travelling at his best speed over the last half-mile. New Metford did two miles by himself, and was well out in the centre of the track. The trotter moved in his best style, and was being eased in the final furlong of his work-out. Homeward started abgut two lengths in front of Nelson Boy, while Sadie Huon was about four lengths further back. Homeward, who was on the outside of Nelson Boy. kept just in front of the trotter at the finish of a mile and a quarter, which was a good workout. Sadie Huon was eased in the back stretch, and pulled up at the end of a mile.

Somerbv gave Brentlight about ten lengths’ start in a work-out over a mile and a half. The speed was on all the way, and Somerby gradually reduced the gap. At the end of a mile he drew up with his stable companion, and the pair came home together, but it looked as though Somerby held Brentlight easily. Somerby came back after the work-out looking a trifle sore.
