PRESENTATION MADE TO RETIRING OFFICER.

Mr James Andrews, district clerk and accountant in the Department of Agriculture at Christchurch, who is retiring on superannuation, was preseted with an easy chair, a beautifully figured brass fire-screen and brass coal container from his fellow officers of the Canterbury-West Coast district as a token of the esteem in which he is held. The presentation was made by Mr J. Kerrigan, M.R.C.V.S., District Superintendent, who made reference to the conscientious manner in which Mr Andrews had carried out the many and varied duties of his position and acknowledged the advice and assistance all had received from him during the sixteen years he had held the chief clerical position in the Canterbury district. Other speakers were Messrs F. Mackenzie (principal inspector), Goodwin (Horticulture Division), Tennet (Dairy Division), Rose (Fields Division), and Cameron (office staff).

Prior to joining the Department of Agriculture Mr Andrew's was in the Tourist Department .having been the first district tourist agent appointed in that department. For some time he was stationed at Rotorua.
