notification of cut SENT TO LOCAL BODIES. All workers on unemployed relief wilt come under a general reduction of wages to-morrow. Wages for married men will be reduced to 12s 6d a day and for single men to 9s a day. Under the alternative system of payment by the hour, the rates will be Is 6Sd and Is lid respectively. . Notification of the Government’s/decision to this effect has been given to all local bodies by the Unemployment Board. Among other local bodies who have received the announcement are the Christchurch City Council, the Heathcote County Council and the Waimakariri River Trust. These are the principal employers of relief labour ir Canterbury.
