COMPANY COMMENCES A NEW INDUSTRY.

LAGER BEER WILL BE MADE IN AUCKLAND. The recent visit to New Zealand of Mr J. P. Spangenberg, consulting brewers’ engineer to the Carlsberg Breweries, Copenhagen, Denmark, at the invitation of the newly formed Lager Breweries (N.Z.), Ltd., has made possible the establishmetn of another large industrial concern in Auckland, capable of emplojdng a large staff of men with an annual wages bill of no less than £IO,OOO per annum. _ During the course ot his investigations carried out for the purpose of determining the suitability of New Zealand water for the making of genuine larger beer of low alcoholic content, Mr Spangenberg found the water on Pigeon Mountain, Pakuranga, to be exactl ythe same as the water used in the famous Carlsberg brewery at Copenhagen, where the world-famous lager is made. Mr Spangenberg has been a brewers’ consulting engineer for the past thirty years, and his experience in the industry has covered the superintending of lager breweries in places as far apart as Iceland and Chile, consequently his advice represents the most expert available. Ilis statement, coupled with the fact thta there is undoubtedly a growing demand for beer of low alcoholic content, influenced the company in establishing a brewery to specialise in the production of lager beer.
