High Street.

To the Editor. Dear Sir, —A long time ago the City Council announced that High Street was to be reconstructed in concrete. There has been no talk of the being put in hand in the near future, and people have a right to know whether it has been postponed indefinitely, or whether it is being held up until the Tramway Board renews the tracks. At present the road carries an abundance of potholes to the square 3'ard, and on wet days pedestrians have to look alive to avoid a mudbath from passing cars. The bodies who have to undertake the work should be urged to have it carried out before the winter.—l am, etc., ADVANCE CHRISTCHURCH
