FROM THE “STAR” of January 9. 1871.—The war in Europe.—The “Pastoral Times,” published at Deniliquin, NewSouth Wales, of December 24, has the f- 1lowing: Messrs M’Culloch, Sellars and Co., of Melbourne, have received a private telegram dated a few hours later than the public telegrams, stating that there was an open rupture between America and Great Britain—we believe the cause to the A’ bama claims. The news was bro.-glj to Deniliquin by Mr James Cochrane, W Widgiewa, and upon such reliable authority we have given the startling information. The “ Herald,” an evening paper, is the only Melbourne journal which has though* the above worth quoting.
