WATERING OF GARDENS STOPPED IN MEANTIME. Owing to the heavy demand on the water supply during the hot weather, the Lyttelton Borough Council advises that water for garden purposes is prohibited until further notice. Persons found watering gardens will be prosecuted. Effect of Nor’-westers. It was reported yesterday by a number of Lj'ttelton bathers that during the nor’-west weather the water felt much colder than on days when there was either a nor-east wind or southerly. Evening bathing is becoming very popular at Lyttelton. Watersiders’ Resolution. At the monthly stop-work meeting of seamen held at Lyttelton yesterday morning, the following resolution was carried unanimously:—“That this meeting calls upon all workers to unite in any action that may be necessary to fight against a reduction in -wages.” Personal. Mr R. 11. MTlroy, manager of the Lyttelton branch of the Bank of New Zealand, is on his annual leave, which he is spending in Auckland. Mr MTlroy is being relieved by Mr IT. G. Hitchins. of the .Christchurch office.
