SEAMEN’S DISPUTE DELAYS FIVE SHIPS. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received January 7, 10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 7. A shipping dispute occurred to-day, involving the interstate passenger vessels Canberra and Ormiston. Both are held up and it is likely that others will be drawn into the dispute. The Seamen’s Union objected to a certain method of picking up its members and called all seamen off the Canberra and the Ormiston. Two hundred and fifty passengers are stranded. In to,* the _Ormiston and Canberra, the Allata, Chillagoe and Mil dura will be held up unless a settlement is .reached. It is feared that every ship which, signs up a crew under the old system will be -laid up.
