TIMARU SOCIAL NOTES.
Air and Mrs H. Sinclair Thompson (Park Lane), Mrs Derek Gould. (Christchurch) and Mr A. S. Elworthy (Holme Station) have returned from Alount Possession. Dr and Airs George Kingston (Grey Road) have returned from a holiday at Hanmer Springs. Miss Enid Jones (“Otiritiri”) motored to Christchurch yesterday, where she will be a bridesmaid at the BarkerGiles wedding. Miss Dorothy Quill (Christchurch) left on Monday for Christchurch, after spending a few days with Mrs W. E. Gibson (Elizabeth Street). Aliss Alice Pascoe (Christchurch) ia staying with Miss Letty Williams (Waitati) before returning to Timaru. Airs Elworthy and Miss Elworthy. (“Pareora Cottage,” LeCren’s Terrace), who have been visiting Mrs W. N. Bond (“Dunrobin”), will arrive from the south to-day. Miss Alargery Gibson (Elizabeth Street), will leave this week for the North Island to play in the tennis tournaments there. Mr and Mrs Harold Barker (Christchurch), returned home yesterday after a visit to Mrs J. M. Barker (“Waibi, Woodbury). Air and Mrs Peter Hall (Christchurch) have returned to Timanu after spending some days with Miss Letty Williams at Waitati.
A meeting of ladies interested in the opening of the new West Christchurch School, which will take place in February, was recently held at the school. Conveners of committees were elected as follows: Mrs A’Court, produce stall; Mrs Calder. afternoon tea; Airs Dendle, cake stall; Mrs Wilson, fancy stall. The allocation of the other stalls was left to the general committee.
