MOTOR-CYCLISTS GET STIFF PENALTIES.

ONE SENT TO GAOL FOR INTOXICATION. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, January 3. The Magistrate, Mr F. K. Hunt, today sent one motor-cyclist to gaol and fined another £5 for being intoxicated. Frederick George Palette, 29, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. The police said that he got into difficulties in a city street, crashed, was taken to hospital for treatment, and escaped. The Magistrate said that accused had a bad list in connection with motorcycles and had been ordered not to ride for two years. He was not going to pass over his latest offence. William Charles Griffiths, 34, who crashed into a car in Queen Street, was fined £5. “ Let him sell his motor-bike,” said the Magistrate, when defendant asked time to pay.
