CONTRACT LET FOR MARSHLAND ROAD.

WORK TO START EARLY IN THE COMING YEAR. A contract for approximately £6OOO has been let by the Waimairi County Council to British Pavements, Ltd., for the reconstruction of Marshland Road. A stretch of about five miles is involved, and the road, when completed, will provide a good alternative route to the city from Styx. The road will be surfaced with bitumen. A portion of the city end has already been completed, and the work now to be undertaken will provide a first-class highway between Burwood and the Main North Road. It is hoped that the work, which will provide employment for a good number of men, will be started on January 2.
