A fair number of sales were recorded on the Exchange after noon yesterday, but bidding was again quiet at this morning’s call. Commercial Banks eased with sellers at 16s Id, and New South Wales, after a sale at £2B 10s, were still on effer at £2B 15s. The report from Waitangi directed attention to Taranaki Oils, and a parcel changed hands at 3s 2d. Consolidated Bricks were offered at 14s. In Government stocks, a parcel of tax-free (1939) was available at £9S. PROPERTY SALES REPORT. Messrs Ford and Hadfield, Ltd., have to report having effected the following sales of property:—On account of Mr Dent, his building section situated May’s Road, Papanui, to a client; on account of Mr L. Hudson, his building section situated Matipo Street, Riccarton, to Mr Barlass; on account of Mr A. Heron, his residential property situated Tuam Street, Linwood, to Mrs Brown; on account of Mr A. H. Reynolds, his residential property situated Cox Street, • Merivale, to a client; on account of Mr R. Watt, his bungalow property situated Wyon Street, Avonside, to Mr Anton; on account of Mr Barlass, his bungalow property situated Taramea Street, Spreydon, to a client; on account of Mrs E. Davis, residential property situated. Avon Street, City, to Mr C. Eastmond (in conjunction with Jones, McCrostie Co., Ltd.). COMPANY AFFAIRS.

N.Z. Loan and SCercantlle Agency Company. The thirty-sixth report of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., is as follows. It covers the year ended June 30:— After paying interest on the first and second mortgage debenture stocks, making provision for bad and doubtful debts ahd other contingencies, there remains a balance of £76,550 11s 3d, to which has to be added the amount brought forward from last year, viz., £58,412 3s 3d, making £134,962 14s 6d The interim dividends of 2i per cent on the 5 per cent prof, stock, 2 per cent on the ord. stock and dividends for twelve months on the 6£ per cent cumulative second pref. stock absorbed £77 500 leaving a. balance of £57,462 14s 6d. The directors recommend:—A final dividend of 2i per cent on the 5 per cent cumulative pref. stock (less income tax at 2s in the pound), £25,000; a final dividend of 2 per cent (less income tax at 2s in the pound) on the ord, stock, making 4 per cent for the year, £20,000, leaving to be carried forward £12,462 14s 6d.
