MONTHLY MEETING OF PLUNKET SOCIETY HELD.

The monthly meeting of the committee of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children (the Plunket Society) was held in the Plunket Rooms. There were present —Mrs J. E. Garland (in the chair) and Mesdames F. Graham, Hallows Wood, J. Tait, C. Chilton, L. M. Wilson, L. Sissen, M. 11. Godbv, J. S. Neville, H. M’lntosh, 11. R. Smith, E. Wanklyn, G. Aitken, A. Bunz, P. Thomson, E. Cordner, J. K. Archer, W. J. Sheat, H. Roberts, C. Ollivier, H. A. Knight, P. Greenwood, L. Banks and Cecil Wood and Miss Dunsford. Motions of sympathy were passed to Mrs J. Cracroft Wilson on the loss of her husband and to Mrs A. R. Bloxam on the loss of her daughter. It was reported that Miss Dunsford had accepted the position of assistant treasurer, and her appointment was confirmed. Resignations were received with great regret from Mrs Algar Williams, after nearly twenty years’ connection with the society, Mrs V. Turnbull and Mrs Waugh, president of the Marshland sub-branch. Mrs H. Roberts had been elected president of the Marshland subbranch, and Mrs Sturgis agreed to act as honorary secretary and treasurer. Arrangements were discussed for Christmas dinner for the nurses and staff at Karitane Baby Hospital, and donations were received from the committee towards this object. Gifts continued to be received towards the furnishing of the new Plunket Rooms, and the secretary was requested to write and offer grateful thanks to various donors. The treasurer reported having received contributions towards the cost of the country nurse’s car. Donations had been received from the Waipara County branch towards the funds of the Christchurch branch and towards Karitane Baby Hospital. Reports on the work of the nurses were received.
