SPRINGBANK. SCHOOL HOLD PRIZE-GIVING
The Springbank School was packed to capacity on Thursday afternoon, the occasion being the annual prize-giving. Every child received a book. There were also several special prizes. An impromptu programme was given by the children and the Rev G. B. Nansen also addressed them. During the afternoon opportunity was taken to say goodbye to Miss A. J. Allan, who has been sole mistress at Springbank for two and a half years and is now leaving to be married. On behalf of the school children Mabel Miles, senior scholar, presented Miss Allan with a set of dainty afternoon cups and saucers and plates. Mr C. Sands, chairman of the school committee, spoke of the good work Miss Allan had done amongst the children and on behalf of the parents and friends presented her with a lovely cake and tea •waggon. As Miss Allan was leaving the school she was presented with a bouquet of beautiful roses by Myrtle Gartery, one of the junior scholars.
