WEDDINGS.

Grenfell—J ac km an. St Matthew's Church, St Albans, was the scene of a wedding on Thursday evening, when Ethne Mary, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs John Jackman, Eversleigh Street, St Albans, was married to Thomas Harvey, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Grenfell, Opawa. Canon Staples Hamilton officiated. Organ music was played by Mr Pilgrim.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a charming gown of ivory satin beaute, the fitting bodice being inset with a vandyked yoke and long lace sleeves. Diagonal satin bands trimmed the low hip-line, being finished with a posy of orange blossom buds at one side. The circular skirt fell to form a long train. Her tulle veil, embroidered in silver, was arranged under a Dutch cap of silver lace and she carried a bouquet of cream flowers relieved with touches of scarlet. The bride was attended by her'sister, Miss Nora Jackman, and Miss Wyn Wade, who wore pretty frocks of leaf green georgette. Their frocks, made’ alike, had sleeveless bodices encircled with a narrow belt clasped by a jewelled buckle. The skirts were flounced in front and fell in a long plain panel at the back to form a smart train. Each maid wore a dainty gold lace cap and carried a bouquet of flowers in marigold tones. The bridegroom was attended by Mr David Short as best man, with Mr Lester Haberfield as groomsman. Mrs Jackman and Mrs Grenfell, mothers respectively of the bride and bridegroom, received the guests at the reception held in the Cadena Tea Rooms. The former wore a frock of fuschia georgette, relieved by a pleated cream vestee and scarf collar. Her hat was of black crinoline straw arid lace and she carried a bouquet of carnations to tone with her frock. Mrs Grenfell’s fr.ock was of black and amber faconne with a black georgette coat. Wilson, when Florence Lilian, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. E. Roberts, York Street, was married to Alfred Ruth, youngest son of Mr and Mrs J. A. Ritchie, Page’s Road. Miss J. Jenkins presided at the organ. The bride was escorted by h%r father, and wore a frock of ivory georgette and chantilly lace. The semi-fitting bodice of georgette was rucked at the front and sides and finished with three tiny bows down the centre front. The fully-flared skirt of lace fell length. Her ivory tulle veil was arranged under a coronet of orange blossom buds, and she carried a bouquet of pink and white roses and maidenhair fern.

The two bridesmaids, Miss Winifred Robers (sister of the bride) and Miss Alwyn Gilmour, wore frocks of primrose floral ninon with semi-fitting bodices finished with bolera capes. The fullyflared skirts fell in ankle length points. Each wore a picture hat and carried a bouquet of mauve and primrose flowers.

The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr W. G. Ritchie as best man, and Mr L. Roberts, brother of the bride, as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Masonic Hall, Gloucester Street, where a hundred guests w’ere entertained. The bride’s mother wore a Sinbad blue georgette frock, with a hat to match. She carried a bouquet of red roses. The bridegroom’s mother wore a smart coat of black georgette finished with rows of fines kilting, and a black hat relieved with white. She carried a bouquet of apricot roses. Later, when leaving for the wedding tour, the bride wore a brown tailored costume, with a Bangkok straw hat to match and a brown fox fur.J
