HEAVY FINES FOR CONVERTING CARS.

TWO YOUTHS HAD BEEN LIVING FAST LIVES. c r Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 3. Stanley John Preston and James L. 1. Tait, both twenty, were arraigned on thirteen charges of car conversion between September 29 and November 25. The cars were taken from parking places in the city and driven to various bays about the city. Two of them were damaged. It was stated by the police that the accused were living fairly fast lives, unknown to their parents. They were each fined £2O and placed on probation for two years, and ordered each to pay half the damage, £8 10s each, all payments to be at the rate of 10s per week.
