BOY HAS NARROW ESCAPE FROM FIRE.
WAS AWAKENED BY SOUND OF BURNING.
A fifteen-year-old boy had a narrow escape when a building in which he was sleeping at his home at 3, Park Terrace, Fendalton, caught fire early this morning. The building, which was detached from the house and comprised a motor garage, wash-house, tool house and bedroom, was destroyed. The boy, who occupied the bedroom, was awakened by the sound of something burning, and got outside clad only in his pyjamas as the flames burst into his room. In a few* minutes the place was burning fiercely. The brigade was called, but a good deal of damage was done before the fire was conquered. The contents, including all the boy’s clothing were destroyed. The cause of the fire is a mystery. The building was the property of Mr E. D. Johnson, of 63, Fendalton Road. The contents were uninsured.
