CONSTABLES SAW A MAN TAKE BICYCLE.

“ A DRINK TOO MANY,” SAYS ACCUSED TO S.M.

The only excuse Thomas Richard Sadler, a labourer, aged 24 years, could give in the Magistrate’s Court this morning for removing a bicycle belonging to Ivan Granger M’Aliece from in front of an hotel on Saturday was that he had had a drink too many. The accused pleaded guilty to the Charge of theft. Sub-Inspector O’Hara said that the bicycle was left outside an hotel, and when the owner came out it fyad disappeared. He complained to two constables who were nearby, and they remembered seeing the accused go away on a bicycle, after trying to take another one which was locked. A constable found the bicycle at the accused’s home two hours later. Sadler was convicted and sentenced to a month’s imprisonment, the Magistrate stating that he could be examined by the prison doctor. An order was made for the return of the bicycle to complainant.
