MOTOR-CYCLING.
TOURIST TROPHY RACE HELD BY PIONEER CLUB. A novel and thrilling event was staged on Saturday by the Pioneer Club, a miniature of the famous European Tourist Trophy races. The course was a serpentine route over a grass paddock near Rolleston. It embraced hillocks, right-angle bends, zig-zags, and short straights. The total distance was seventenths of a mile, and the riders were asked to go three times round in the heats and twice round in the semi-finals and finals. Results:— 500 c.c. Class. First heat: S. W.
