NEW GOLF LINKS SITE PROPOSED AT GERALDINE
At a special general meeting of the Geraldiije Golf Club the president, Mr A. Readdie, reported that with some of the members he had inspected a proposed new site for links at Orari. A professional golfer of Timaru had said that there would be. no trouble in laying out a good course on the Site mentioned, but on the other the present course could be drain ploughed and the greens made larger. Mrs J. M. Tripp and Mr G. N. Fielden favoured a new site. Mr J. D. M’Kechnie said the time had come when the club should acquire- a freehold. Mr B. R. Macdonald favoured drain ploughing and enlarging the greens of the present links. It was ultimately agreed to enlarge the committee to make further inquiries and estimates of cost and to report in February next. Oddfellows’ Lodge. There •was a good attendance of members at a meeting of the Victoria Lodge, 1.0.0. F. Brother P. Russell, N.G., presided. The following officers were installed for the ensuing year: P.G., Brother P. Russell; N.G., Brother L. Mitchell; V.G., Brother James Waller; secretary. Brother P. Bennett; treasurer, Brother E. M’Cabe; warden, Brother R. Tagg; conductor, Brother B. Richardson; chaplain, Brother R. Rae; R.S., Brother C. Stringer; L.S., Brother J. Weaver; R.S.N.G., Brother N. Fyfe; R.S.S.N.G., Brother John Waller; R.S.M.G., Brother W. Burnham; L.S.V.G., Brother G. White: 1.G., Brother E. Davis. The installing officers wefe D.D.G.M. Brother H. Neutze, D.D.G.M. Brother W. Borrell, D.D.G. Secretary Brother J. Andrews and D.D.G. Treasurer Brother T. Wallace. Brother Evans, D.D.G.M., presented a framed P.G.’s certificate to Brother D. Lack.
