"EGG AND BOOK DAY" HELD AT OXFORD.
The “ egg and book ” day promoted by the Oxford Hospital Decorative Committee was held on Tuesday, the president, Mrs D. Ilawke, sen., being in charge. There was a large attendance, the response showing a large number of books and eighty dozen eggs. During the afternoon the ladies were entertained by musical and other items contributed by the president, Mesdames Sell, Graham, Whyte, 11. Thompson and Virtue, and Misses I. Gainsford and R. Hyde. A competition promoted by the secretary. Mrs R. J. Sharpe, was won by Mrs A. J. T. Wotherspoon. Afternoon tea was dispensed, at which the members of the County Council were the guests of the committee. At the conclusion, Mr A. Meyers, chairman of the County Council, thanked the president for the hospitality extended and said he was pleased to be able to say that that afternoon the council had accepted a tender for the erection of the new town hall, an announcement which was received with hearty applause.
