This is in retaliation for the Canadian duty on New Zealand butter. ■ ; u • i The effect of placing Canadian motor vehicles on the general tariff will be to almost treble the duty On a car of a value of £IOO in the country of origin the duty unde British preferential tariff amount* to £2B 12s Bd, and under the gen eral tariff to £75 15s lid, a differ ence of £47 Ss 3d.
