RICH SOUTH AFRICAN ROBBED OF £9OOO.
CONFIDENCE TRICKSTERS MAKE A BIG HAUL. LONDON. July 26 Jacobus de Wet. a wealthy South African visitor to London, has been robbed of £9OOO by confidence tricksters, one of whom is said to be a New Zealander. The two men met casually in the lounge of a hotel, where the)' described to de Wet an infallible betting system De Wet handed over the money, but later recognised the photographs of his acquaintances at the Rogues’ Gallery in Scotland Yard.
