DRIVING BEFORE GALE WITH ENGINES DISABLED

(Received July 28, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 2S The Dutch steamer Sumatra, a single-screw vessel, trading between Holland and Java, is disabled through engine trouble and is driving before a gale off the Java coast. A long series of S.O.S. calls have been picked up by Sydney radio. The steamer has 60 hands aboard
