Frederick Mark, aged forty-seven, described by the police as the only man ever to defraud the Bank of England, was arrested in New York on a charge of forgery. Mark had a long prison record in America. He swindled the Bank of England of £25.000, for which he was later arrested and convicted. The Y.M.C.A. orchestra gave a concert at the Rannerdale Home on Saturday evening and were assisted by Mrs R. Voller, Miss E. Darragh, Mr and Mrs G. Maxwell, and Mr Sutton.
