TERRITORIAL BRANCH ASSOCIATION FORMED.
A meeting was held last evening in the social room at King Edward Barracks, for the purpose of forming a branch of the Past and Present Territorials’ Association of New Zealand. There was a large attendance, chiefly of acting N.C.O.’s. Captain Crampton was in the choir. The chairman, after reading the constitution (forwarded from Wellington), said that the chief aim of the association was to maintain an adequate defence system to safeguard the Dominion. The association was registered in Wellington, and the local branch would be affiliated. Captain Baker outlined the aims and ideas of *he scheme, membership of which was limit-id to past and present Territorials of service age (between eighteen and forty-five). Dickson, of the 1.C.5., and was already firmly rooted in that centre. Members of the New Zealand Permanent Staff were not eligible for membership, and the officers did not desire to be elected to executive positions. Mr W. H. Perryman (Ist Canterbury Band) was elected president, arid Messrs Lloyd and Smith, vice-presidents. Mr Rogers was elected secretary-treasurer, and the executive of seven consisted of a representative from each unit present.
