CASHMERE NOTES.

Miss Amy Garforth is at present visiting “ Khartoum.” Mr and Mrs J. H. Kidd have been elected members of the Cashmere Hills School Committee. The Rev L. C. Ilorwood commenced his duties at St James’s on April 27. Miss Dora Prudhoe has been visiting Mrs James Manchester at Waimate. Dr F. V. Bevan Brown returned on Wednesday from a motoring tour to Lake Wanaka. Miss Edith Ogilvie, who has been visiting Mrs T. N. Gibbs, “ITilhyrst,” returned to on Tuesday. Miss Jean Munro spent the Easter vacation at Lincoln. Mrs Kennett has returned from Dunedin. The Rev E. W. Hames and Mrs, , Hames and Richard have taken up their residence in Addington. The engagement is announced of Doreen, only daughter of Dr and the late Mrs J. W. M’Brearty, Greymouth, to Duncan, elder son of Mr and Mrs John Anderson, “Bog Roy,” Kurow. Mr C. E. Foweraker, M.A., F.L.S., lecturer in charge of the Canterbury School of Forestry, has been elected president of the New Zealand Institute of Foresters. Mr F. W. Freeman. “Jesmond,” -who is leaving the Dominion for a holiday, was granted three months’ leave of absence at Thursday’s meeting of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce. Mrs Blyth is on a visit to Waipara. Mr T. N. Gibbs has been on a visit to the West Coast. Dr I. C. M’lntyre, of the Cashmere Sanatorium, left Blenheim for Nelson on Wednesday morning. Dr M’lntyre has been visiting Marlborough in connection with the group scheme for combating T.B. The group over which he exercises supervision embraces the hospital districts of North Canterbury, Marlborough, Nelson and West Coast. Mrs T. E. Taylor has been elected' vice-president of the Canterbury branch of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children.
