BIBLE CLASS UNIONS’ TENNIS TOURNAMENT.

The Methodist Bible Class Unions, in their endeavour to. foster sport amongst their members, organised a combined doubles tennis tournament open to members of the respective unions only. This took place at Wilding Park last Saturday. That the move was a desirable one was shown by the fact that thirty-six entries were received. An energetic committee was in charge, and the games were pushed through and the competition completed in the afternoon, despite the fact that several of the matches were very closely contested. Miss O. Lockwood and D. Hay defeated Miss W. Hutton and E. Taylor in the finals. During the afternoon. Miss Thompson (president of the Y.W. Union) and the Rev O. S. Pearn (President of the Y.M. Union) expressed their pleasure at the result of the first attempt to combine the sporting activities of the unions. It is probable that the function will become an annual one.
