CHRISTCHURCH WILL HAVE A NEW FACTORY,
CHEAP LAND AND RAW MATERIAL AVAILABLE
A factory will shortly be established in Christchurch by Cereal Foods, Ltd., a large Australian company engaged in the manufacture of wheat flake biscuits and similar lines. Mr Camp, general manager for Australia, who is at present in Christchurch, has just completed the purchase of a factory site, and it is expected that operations will commence in two or three months’ time. Mr Camp came to New Zealand to look into the possibility of establishing factories at Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, and he has decided on Auckland and Christchurch. Two factors that no doubt influenced Mr Camp in favour of Christchurch are the comparatively low price of land here and the close proximity of wheat supplies. Wheat is the principal raw material required by the factories.
